Parsnip

Think of winter, and it is roasted parsnip. But now is the time to sow the seeds. Parsnips have rather fallen from favour and they are quite delicious as a winter crop.
Sow the seeds now and be patient as they will take 14 weeks or more to mature.
A tip is to soak parsnip seeds in warm water and keep them moist when in the ground.
Dig in Blood and Bone, moisten the soil well and plant parsnip seeds into a row. They take 4-5 months to grow to maturity.
Tip
Place a moist hessian sack , or a few sheets of moist newspaper over the row so the seeds do not dry out. Remove when they germinate.
