Lion’s Ear (Leonotis)

An excellent plant, small shrub, with masses of furry orange tubular flowers in autumn.
A good gap filler in a sunny spot, very hardy and only needs pruning when finished flowering.
Children love it to touch as the flowers are soft but I have no idea why it is called Lion’s Ear, maybe to do with the plants origin, South Africa.
You may need to hunt for this plant but it does grow easily from a cutting.
Editor's note: The name"Leonotis" means Lion's Ear.
