One of the most extraordinary bulbs to flower in late summer and autumn comes from a bulb that is the size of a football and flowers before the leaves appear with huge pink, rosy red heads the size of dinner plants.  

It's botanical name is Brunsvigia Josephinae, named after Empress Josephine, Napolean’s first wife.
