Jane Edmanson

Jane has been involved in horticulture for over 35 years and in gardening media since 1989 and as such is one of the most well respected gardeners in Australia.

Apart from her daily gardening segments on Magic 1278, Jane also presents on sister station 3AW together with Darren James on The Big Backyard and a weekly segment on the Denis Walter program.

Jane's other media interests include being a long-time presenter on ABC's Gardening Australia as well as contributing to numerous magazines and publishing 6 best selling books such as Jane Edmanson’s 'From the Ground Up'.

Every year Jane takes garden tours, both within Australia and overseas, as well as lots of garden talks and media presentations.  Some of the organizations of which she is a Patron include, the Royal Horticulture Society, Sustainable Gardening Australia, Ambassador for Australia Day, Ambassador of Cystic Fibrosis Victoria, Friends of the Wail Arboretum, Horsham, Victoria.

Plus, she loves her garden.

What was your first job?

I worked in a toy shop on weekends, then sat on the side of Springvale Road counting cars in the days when cars were few and far between.

What is your most embarrassing on air moment?

On a cold day I said it was "a bit nipply" instead of "nippy". Hmm!

If you could interview anyone (living or dead) who would it be?

Captain Cook would be good - the world's best navigator.
