Heirloom Recipes
KEVIN AND JANE'S KITCHEN
These recipes have been handed down through families and passed around between friends.
From Bev: Mum’s Soup
This is basic and tasty...
Ingredients:
1 packet of Soup Mix (dried peas, beans, lentils)
Lamb shanks
Your favourite chopped soup vegies
1packet of chicken noodle soup
1 packet of vegetable soup
Worcestershire sauce
Method:
It’s so easy!
• Just boil up all of the ingredients, minus the Worcestershire sauce – use a splash of that at the very end, or add it in the bowl when you serve.
From Nita: Grandma’s Shortbread

Ingredients:
8 oz butter
4 oz caster sugar
11 oz plain flour
2 oz rice flour
Method:
• Beat ingredients together (can use an electric beater).
• Roll mixture into four circles, then cut the each circle into 8 wedges.
• Bake in a moderate oven for 20–25 minutes.
From Lillian: Fool’s Sponge
Lillian says it’s called “Fool’s Sponge” because “any fool can make it!”.
This recipe has become a tradition in Wallan, where Lillian and her long-time circle of friends share it with their families and always make it for birthdays in the local community.
Ingredients:

4 eggs, separated
¾ cup of caster sugar
Pinch of salt
¾ cup cornflour
1 tablespoon custard powder
½ teaspoon bicarb soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Method:
• Add pinch of salt to the egg whites and whip until they form stiff peaks.
• Slowly fold in the caster sugar.
• Stir in egg yolks one at a time.
• Sift in other ingredients.
• Pour into a lined cake tin.
• Bake at 180 degrees for 25–30 minutes.
The sponge will rise about three inches above the rim of an average size cake tin – it’s perfect for cutting in half horizontally and filling with cream!

Love listening to the recipe segment on the drive to work!! And for those who seem to have trouble printing them, copy and paste into a word document, then print! To copy click mouse at the beginning of the bit you want, hold the button down, drag to the end(it should be highlighted) (let go) pressand hold'ctrl' key and hit 'c' key, go to document, use 'Ctrl' and 'v' and it should appear!

Enjoy your show. However like others I am unable to print individual recipes without many pages of waste. Can it be set up as others do with options - ie - to print only highlighted portion or a particular page ?

Have listened to 1278 since MP changed their format in my car too.
Like others disappointed I am unable to print5N11E3 without six pages of nothing each time. Now having to write them down.
Please fix the printing problem like other recipe sites which have a print button and you only get the recipe. On some even choice of A4 or recipe card.
Thank you.Margaret Peachey Sunday 2 October, 2011 - 2:01 PM -
